Portfolio > Strange Containers

2016

The projected images in this exhibition document the containers in which the two artists’ relationship was established/ defined/built. Locations include shared spaces and temporary residences; a campground, an AirBnb rental, a kayak, a public park.

Corrugated cardboard boxes–a common material–represent significant/life-changing/transitional events. The boxes were collected from shared experiences; not being rehired as an adjunct professor, moving in with a partner, and transporting belongings of a deceased family member.

Obscured by the accumulation of boxes and paper, the ephemeral images are a nod to the intersection of the bizarre and familiar. As viewers pass through the space, they become a part of the pieces, breaking up or adding to the composition.
